Mise à jour du bilan carbone de Kalisio pour 2023

✔️ We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our employees who contributed to this report. They answered a series of questions about their work habits.

💪 Despite a substantial increase in our activity since our previous review, we have nevertheless been able to limit our impact. The rationalization of our infrastructures via their migration to Kubernetes and their hosting in France are certainly no strangers to this. The majority of our operations are based on open-source solutions. Finally, our 100% telecommuting mode of operation is a major pillar, as we know that transport is the main source of emissions for a French person.

💡 Let's not forget that the carbon footprint remains a limited diagnostic tool. On the one hand, it is sometimes complicated to obtain certain data (internal or external) and calculations are based on emission factors with their share of uncertainties. On the other hand, the 100% telecommuting activity of our employees and the use of free services can only be taken into account through certain artifices. Lastly, this report only looks at greenhouse gas emissions, which are far from being the only source of pollution for our environment.

⚠️ No greenwashing! For a modest annual fee (~€40 per tonne of CO2), we could buy carbon credits and offset our emissions, but we won't do it. Indeed, to date, carbon offsetting instruments such as tree planting seem to us to be largely questionable: problems of temporality, damage to biodiversity, conflicts of use, high uncertainty about long-term effects, etc.
