    Q&A to better understand our solutions!

    For software to be considered “free”, it must guarantee a set of fundamental freedoms to its user. These are defined by the Free Software Foundation or theOpen Source Initiative. The most important guarantee the possibility :

    • to use the software without restriction in any of the fields of application ;
    • to study how it works by accessing the source code;
    • improve the software and publish its own enhancements;
    • to create and redistribute derivative software.

    For non-free software, known as “proprietary”, use is strictly regulated. Modifications cannot be made for legal or technical reasons. Windows software, for example, is proprietary. Its use is therefore typically restricted to the licensed user and his/her PC.

    Open Data is data that anyone can use and share. The Open Knowledge Foundation (OKFN) defines the essential criteria for Open Data. They represent universal availability, reuse, distribution and participation. These criteria are the essence of Open Data. They enable interoperability, i.e. the ability to mix different data sets within different systems or software. But interoperability isn't just about sharing data. It also requires the use of exchange standards to meet the need for communication between IT systems. That's why the standards defined by the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) make our mapping services compliant.

    We work with players such as Airbus and IRSN, renowned for their stringent safety requirements. We are therefore accustomed to complying with stringent requirements in this area, and to integrating them into the design of our solutions.
    In particular, all connections to our services are made via TLS-encrypted transactions. We host our data in Europe in secure data centers provided by various service providers such as Amazon or OVH. We secure your passwords with bcrypt and encrypt all your data. We replicate and capture our databases on a regular basis, so that they can be restored quickly in the event of failure. Finally, our Stripe supplier, certified PCI-DSS level 1, the highest grade in the field, secures your online payments.
